2016 Pinot Noir 'Docker Hill Vyd', Mendocino, (Comptche)
Winemaker's notes:
100% Cane pruned - 40% Whole Cluster fermentation. Fermented in small, wooden vats. 40% new French oak, 60% neutral. Aged 2 years. Bottled in 2018.
Not completely clear. Pale red. This is the first wine that has oak in the nose, not overpowering, but definitely present. Spicy, red fruit, sweet red cherry, a little bit of strawberry and a nice little chunk of toasty french oak. Mouth is bright. Lots of red fruit on the palate, oak, but also wet stone. Very long finish. It hasn’t peaked yet. It’ll drink for the next 15 years.
Pair with Korean BBQ, braised cabbage, the whole deal!
